About WTIC NewsTalk 1080

Connecticut's news and talk station on 1080 AM

WTIC NewsTalk 1080 is Audacy's news and talk station for Hartford and Connecticut. Its FCC licence is for WTIC on 1080 AM, licensed to Hartford and held by Audacy License, LLC. It is a Class A clear-channel station running 50,000 watts, the maximum for U.S. AM stations, from a two-tower site in Avon. At night it uses a directional pattern to protect KRLD in Dallas, the other Class A station on 1080. WTIC is also Connecticut's primary entry point for the Emergency Alert System.

The station is one of the oldest in Connecticut. It was authorized by telegram on December 17, 1924, and founded by the Travelers Insurance Company, whose initials gave it its call letters. Its first studios were in the Travelers building at 26 Grove Street in Hartford, and regular programming began on February 10, 1925.

RADIO JOX plays Audacy's own stream for the station. RADIO JOX built the address from Audacy's public Amperwave stream pattern using the station's call letters, and the stream identifies itself as 1080 WTIC NEWSTALK.
